Shannon is a wife, mother, writer, speaker, lay counselor, and advocate for sexual integrity. She has spoken to youth, college students, and adults since 1989 and her passions include:
- Instilling sexual values in children at an early age
- Challenging young people to embrace a life of sexual integrity
- Ministering to women who have looked for love in all the wrong places
- Inspiring others to make Jesus Christ the primary Love of their life
Ethridge's passion for sexual purity didn't begin inside church walls; it began in mortuary school. Her first career choice, becoming a mortician, led Ethridge to enroll in classes that required work on dead bodies. Many she embalmed were young people who had died from AIDS or committed suicide as a result of being diagnosed HIV positive. Because of her own promiscuous teenage years, she often thought, "It is only by the grace of God that I am standing over this embalming table rather than laying on it."
Shannon graduated mortuary college in 1989, but became a youth minister, hoping to make a spiritual impact on young people's lives that would lead them to make healthier sexual choices. Since that time, she has spoken at over 100 youth retreats in a wide variety of denominational settings and regularly teaches an 8-week growth group on the Teen Mania Ministries campus using her first book, Words of Wisdom for Women at the Well: Quenching Your Heart's Thirst for Love & Intimacy (Essence Publishing). Many women have used her follow-up book Words of Wisdom for Well Women: 40 Devotions of Preparation for Leading Women at the Well to Living Water to start their own such growth groups in churches and college settings across the U.S. and abroad.
Her newest book, Every Woman's Battle: Discovering God's Plan for Sexual and Emotional Fulfillment has remained on the best-seller list since its release in July 2003 (WaterBrook Press). Steve is host of the nationally syndicated New Life Live daily radio program, author of over 35 best-
selling books, and a nationally known public
speaker. In addition, Steve is the founder of
New Life Clinics, which provide professional
counseling and treatment throughout the United
States. His most recent books include More
Jesus, Less Religion; Avoiding Mr. Wrong; and
Every Man's Battle.
Steve's unique background has led to appearances
