Walker, Hezekiah
Hezekiah Walker's life is all about beating the odds. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, in the Fort Greene housing projects, he began following his destiny by doing what he loved best-singing. In the mid-1980s, Hezekiah started the Love Fellowship Choir and brought a fresh new sound to gospel music. That sound landed Hezekiah and the choir on top of the Billboard Music charts. Two Grammy Awards, along with nine Grammy nominations, followed as Hezekiah and the choir traveled throughout the United States and abroad, touring London, Africa, and Israel. On the heels of his musical success came a preaching ministry from behind the pulpit. Today, Hezekiah is the pastor of the Love Fellowship Tabernacle, which has congregations in Brooklyn and Bensalem, Pennsylvania. The passion of Hezekiah's heart as he preaches and sings is to let people know that Jesus Christ can give so much more than this world has to offer. Dedicated to helping the impoverished and often violent local communities, Hezekiah started a mentoring program for troubled teens in partnership with the local district attorney's office. Countless people throughout the world have been blessed by this man of God, and he has become a role model for many, especially to the younger generation, which considers him the "Pastor of Hip-Hop."
